Special issue of Narrative Works: Issues, Investigations, & Interventions
Volume 9, Number 1 (2019), a publication of The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Narrative, St. Thomas University, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. https://journals.lib.unb.ca/index.php/NW/issue/view/2190
This special issue tells the story of a project that explores the impact of stories about moral choice on identity development and altruistic responses to suffering. It includes a description and qualitative investigation of a multi-year project focused on bringing stories of moral courage to two urban high schools, as well as a qualitative study of those who heard first hand stories of moral courage expressed during catastrophic events. Personal essays describing the interpersonal experience and effects of hearing stories of moral courage are included, as well as a concluding essay integrating insights from each of these sections.
